Noosa Council Community Grants Program Open 1 February

Noosa Council has several grants available for community groups and individuals. Applications open on 1st February 2024. It is important to understand the grant eligibility and acquittal process.

The grants are subject to review and I would be interested to hear how you think these programs could be improved.

You can always improve your chances of success by first contacting the Grants Officer on (07) 5329 6500 or email grants@noosa.qld.gov.au

Community Grants

Community Grants are awarded twice each year and are open to not-for-profit organisations. Groups must be able to demonstrate how the project will benefit our community. Organisations must also be incorporated (Inc.).  I suggest groups read the Noosa Social Strategy to see how closely their projects align with our community’s needs.

The next round of Community Grants will be open for applications from 9 am, Thursday 1 February and close at 12 noon on Thursday 14 March. For those wanting to explore the types of grants (and amounts) available, I recommend that you/your group, start planning immediately to ensure you have gathered all the information needed for Council to assess your application.

Community Grants Policy can be found here.

Environment Grants

Environment Grants have been established to support Noosa Council’s Environment Strategy. It can include multiyear collaborative grants which encourage various community groups to collaborate with each other, and with Council, to deliver identified environmental targets.

The Climate Change Grants

These grants have been designed to help meet the outcomes of the Noosa Climate Change Response Plan. It is a one year program that helps to achieve net zero emissions, assist our residents to reduce emissions, and to help us to transition to 100% renewable electricity.

As with the Community Grants, the next round of Environment and Climate Change Grants open on 1 February and close 14 March.

Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF)

This one is a joint effort between the Queensland Government and Noosa Council to support local cultural development and arts. The RADF provides one-off project-based financial assistance. RADF Grant Round 22 will open for applications at 9 am on 6 August.

Economic Development Grants

Members of Noosa’s local business community should be aware that Council has an Economic Development Grants Program, to help businesses to contribute more to our local economy. These are one-off, short term financial assistants grants that are project-based.  The nominated project needs to be completed within 12 months. These are ongoing grants – there is no cut off period so you can apply at any time throughout the year.

More information, including eligibility requirements, can be found at https://www.noosa.qld.gov.au/business/grants/economic-development-grant.

Other Grants from Federal and Queensland Governments

There is a myriad of grants on offer from both the State and Federal Governments to help our local businesses grow and thrive. For instance the Queensland Government has a Business Investment Fund which helps innovative growth-stage businesses with a proven product/offering.

To help Queensland’s manufacturing sector, the State Government has the Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grant Program, which closes on 30 June 2024 or until funds have been allocated (for this round).  Details can be found at here.

Noosa Council’s website has a list of many of these Grants at Business Grants together with a link to the grant finding tool: Grant Guru.
