Friday, September 13 was the quarterly meeting of SEQ Council of Mayors-held at Brisbane City Hall – where issues affecting our region: transport, housing, cost shifting from other levels of government are addressed in a collaborative forum.
Some items on the agenda included:
*Strategies for bridging the development infrastructure charges shortfall costing ratepayers $2billion over the next four years
* SEQ Waste Education and Behaviour Change Update, focus on establishing shared regional facilities
SEQ City Deal funding including active transport and coastal pathway projects
*Green Urban Infrastructure grants
*SEQ Region Digital Plan, how do we use advances in technology to improve services
*Paris 2024 Key Observations
*Qld Hydro project for Borumba Dam
*The spread of Fire ants
The COM’s work has attracted significant funding for projects in the areas of resource recovery, catchment management, public arts etc thanks to a stronger together approach.
