Productive Partnerships

This next term will see the ongoing work with the State, private industry and community housing providers come to fruition and deliver homes for those on low to moderate incomes.

This involves new social/community housing dwellings in Tewantin and Cooroy, the continued increase in secondary dwellings being long-term rented, Housing Strategy actions that enable State to provide more dwellings on their land, incentives for private industry to provide social housing in new developments and the limiting of new STAs in all residential neighbourhoods.

I am committed to fostering productive and professional relationships with Sunshine Coast and Gympie councils on matters of regional interest and mutual benefit, such as shared waste to resource/energy projects and recycling centres.

Noosa Council will continue to support Unity Water in its zero nutrient target and wastewater treatment plant upgrades. I commit to upgrading council storm water filtration systems so we can improve the quality of water flows from Burgess and other coastal creeks.

I support the work of Noosa MP Sandy Bolton and State marine scientists in their work to find alternatives to reduce number of non-target species caught in shark nets and Sandy Bolton’s commitment to conduct consultation on any changes proposed to be made to this program.

Long-term view: With your support, I’ll work to create a collaborative council focused on the best long-term interests of our community.

I commit to creating a council that understands how our community’s views have shaped the town plan, environment, transport and other strategies; a council that respects individual differences and works together to make decisions in the best long-term interests of all.

Not having any party political memberships means I remain focused on the needs of Noosa’s residents and environment first, not any party or ideology.

This includes continued support for over 300 not-for-profit groups and clubs, run by over 8000 volunteers, that lie at the heart of our artistic, cultural, social, sporting, environmental, business network and community life.

Looking ahead, the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics brings funding for the things we need, like a better, all-abilities transport system, more cycle and footpaths, good roads, bridges and beach accesses, more greenspaces, community sporting facility upgrades and the all-abilities access work we need to do to make Noosa more connected and inclusive.

I would also like to suggest a portfolio system with councillors responsible for a specific area which could also give residents greater freedom to work with their representatives of choice.
